The Churches in the Stone Mountain Baptist Association have held, and always will hold, the belief that man is born with a nature which leads him to sin. We call that nature the “carnal” nature, and when we follow that nature to do wrong, we become sinners in the sight of God. None can resist this nature in their own power, therefore “all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God. (Rom 3:23)” We also believe that man is not able in his own power to recover himself from this sinful state by his own power, whether it be by good works, good living, or ability. The only way for man to set himself right in God’s sight is to pay the penalty that sins brings, and that is spiritual death, or eternal separation from God. “The soul that sinneth, it will surely die.” (Ezekiel 18:4 )
But God loved us so much that He began a plan, even before the world was formed. “For God so love the world, that He gave His only begotton Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life. (John 3:16)” In the eons of beginning eternity, God had already committed Himself to send a Redeemer to this world. The purpose of that Redeemer would be to live a sinless life and be worthy to become the sacrifice which would pay the sin debt we could not pay. So on the cross of Calvary, the sinless Lamb of God died in our place. He paid the penalty of death, so that we could have life through Him. And the marvelous fact is this, all we have to do is believe what God has done for us through Christ. When we believe, we move from the state of eternal death to the state of eternal life. “For God sent not His Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through Him might be saved. He that believeth on Him is not condemned, but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. (John 3:17-18)”
The moment we confess before God that we are indeed sinners, when we repent of the sin in our lives, when we believe that Jesus is the only Hope and Saviour of the world, and are willing to confess this great heartfelt truth to the world, wonderful things happen. Christ forgives our sin, imparts to us eternal life, comes to live in our heart, and gives us a spiritual nature with which to face the world. Not only that, we become a Son of God, our names are recorded in the Lamb’s Book of Life, and we will not have to face eternal separation from God.
So today, just pray and confess to God that you are a sinner, confess that you are sorry for your sins and sinful nature, confess and believe that Jesus died for your sins, was buried in the death you and I should die, and was raised from the grave to give Eternal Life. Then accept Him into your heart and life, and live knowing that He is with you every step of the way.
If you are willing to do this, He will do as He promised. “Whosever cometh to me, I will in no wise cast out (John 6:37).” “Whosoever cometh to me, I give Eternal life, and they shall never perish. (John 10:28 ).” Accept the forgiveness, the life, and the hope only He can give, and commit yourself to serving Him the remainder of your days.
If you accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, please email me so we can pray for you in your new walk of life.
